Hi - I love everything arty and look forward to meeting and working alongside other artists.
BA Hons Multi-disciplinary Design. Worked as an illustrator then an interior designer for pubs. Made picture frames for five years while raising a family. Now teach art to adult beginners and kids after school. I also run Arts Link London which I started ten years ago, plus a few other meet up groups because I love doing all sorts of arty things and meeting interesting people who enjoy them too!
Portraits and caricatures of each other. Drawing plants at Petersham Nurseries. Drawing in the costume Gallery at the V&A. Quirky things like draw a pod on the London Eye - then turn it into an illustration of what might be happening inside the pod. Workshops led by an expert on caricatures, printmaking, working with pastels etc. Sessions where we visualise a scene or person from spoken word - be interesting to see how people interpret differently. Drawing in Brompton Cemetery. In summer painting by water - the river or parks. Drawing from a cafe with an interesting view eg overlooking a market. My favourite local cafe looks right on to a bus stop, so I'm always drawing bus queues:) Drawing musicians performing. Drawing ballet dancers rehearsing. Drawing with photographs as a springboard - eg take a really boring photograph and turn it into something exciting. Drawing people then developing them into story characters. Please look out for likely venues when you're out and about!
Working on it:)

Hi Julia! I can't attend tomorrows meeting at Festival Hall because I am working. I now have sufficient hospital cartoons to publish a book. I'll do it via the internet. I still paint in the two untutored classes I attend. I'll keep looking out for your events via this site. Cheers!
Hi Julia,
20th April is fine for me.

Hello Julia
I would like to invite you to join Women's Networking with a Twist. Hope to see you soon x.
Thats alright. I had changed the settings so that anyone who joined could organise their own events, that way it's more of a group's group and there is no one person in charge. Looking forward to the meetup :)
hi, Julia, thanks for inviting me to your creative group. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. shichuan
Thanks for your welcome reply. I love participating in group exhibitions. They get one motivated to get down to some serious painting. Then there's all the fun of sending out the flyers, wine and buscuits for the preview event. Putting prices on and sharing the invigilating. I also do larger watercolours that also depict quirky events from real life. I did one for an exhibition in which a border collie rushes out to howl(sing) at the alarm the fire engine makes when it noisely passes by
Hi Julia! I'm Keith Irvine and a member of the cartoon drawing group. Thankyou for all you are doing for the club. I'll send you some scans of my art. I'm doing what isnt done much in the art world. I mentally record quirky events at work and in everyday life then paint them cartoon style. I did one of commuters sucking their thumbs on the underground among other things. I paint every second Monday evening and some Saturdays. I'm on holiday from the 17th March but may attend that day's event.
